Prioritising Inclusivity and Intersectionality
At Hadrian's Lover, we are committed to prioritising inclusivity and intersectionality in all aspects of our operations, creating a welcoming environment for LGBTQIA+ individuals of all backgrounds and identities. We recognise that the LGBTQIA+ community is diverse and that individuals may face unique challenges and discrimination based on their intersecting identities, such as race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, disability, and age.

To ensure that our community hub is truly inclusive and welcoming, we will:

Foster a Culture of Respect and Acceptance
We will cultivate a culture that celebrates diversity, promotes equality, and challenges discrimination in all its forms. This includes providing ongoing diversity, equity, and inclusion training for our staff, volunteers, and partners.

Design Inclusive Spaces and Programs
We will design our physical space and programs to be accessible, comfortable, and welcoming for individuals with diverse needs and preferences. This includes ensuring wheelchair accessibility, providing gender-neutral restrooms, and offering a range of activities and events that cater to different interests and abilities.

Celebrate Intersectional Identities
We will actively celebrate and showcase the diverse identities within the LGBTQIA+ community through our programming, events, and partnerships. This includes highlighting the work of LGBTQIA+ artists, activists, and community leaders from diverse backgrounds and experiences.

Address Systemic Barriers and Inequalities
We will work to identify and address systemic barriers and inequalities that may prevent LGBTQIA+ individuals from fully participating in our community hub. This includes partnering with organisations that serve marginalised communities, offering sliding-scale pricing for our services, and advocating for policies that promote equity and inclusion.

Provide Tailored Support and Resources
We will offer support services and resources that are tailored to the unique needs of LGBTQIA+ individuals with intersectional identities. This may include providing mental health support for LGBTQIA+ people of colour, hosting events for LGBTQIA+ individuals with disabilities, and offering language interpretation services for non-English speaking community members.

Continuous Learning and Improvement
We will prioritise ongoing learning and improvement in our inclusivity and intersectionality efforts. This includes regularly seeking feedback from diverse community members, staying informed about best practices and emerging issues, and adapting our approaches as needed to better serve our community.

By prioritising inclusivity and intersectionality, Hadrian's Lover aims to create a community hub where all LGBTQIA+ individuals feel seen, heard, and valued, regardless of their backgrounds or identities. We believe that by celebrating and empowering the diversity within our community, we can foster a sense of belonging, resilience, and pride that will have a lasting impact on Manchester's LGBTQIA+ community and beyond.
